The spirit of Blues — its atmosphere, generosity, and heritage…

Each year, Blues Corner takes on a new theme to explore different facets of the dance — and this time, it’s all about reconnecting with yourself through solo dancing.
We’ve prepared an inspiring workshop experience designed to boost your confidence and deepen your solo dance skills — which, we’re sure, will also take your partner dancing to the next level.

Levels
LEVEL 1 : You are discovering the universe of blues, and this is your first experience with solo dance. You want to learn how to move to this powerful music and start building a connection between sound, body, and feeling. In this level, we will explore the foundations of solo blues: basic movements, posture, rhythm, and the essential elements of blues aesthetics. No previous solo blues experience is required—just curiosity and the desire to move.
LEVEL 2 : You already have dance experience. You may already dance blues (solo and/or partnered) or another dance style, and you are ready to go further. You are hungry for knowledge, challenge, and intense practice. This level focuses on expanding your vocabulary, deepening your musicality, and developing strategies for improvisation. We will dive into concepts, textures, and dynamics to help you dance with more clarity, intention, and freedom.
LEVEL 3 : You have been practicing solo blues for a while. You attend regular solo blues classes (for at least two years), or you travel and learn at festivals and events. You feel comfortable in your body, can improvise to different styles of blues music, and consciously integrate blues aesthetics into your movement. You are looking for precision, details, technical tools, rhythm breakdowns, and new directions to challenge and refine your dancing.

Vicci Moore
Whether it is doing it, teaching it, watching it, researching it, performing it, filming it or talking about it, there is nothing Vicci loves more in the world than dancing! She trained in a number of solo dances before discovering partner dancing in her twenties, has a diploma in Anatomy and Physiology, a first class honours degree in Dance and Choreography, accredited training in teaching adults and a Masters degree in Education.
Vicci demonstrates this wealth of experience and knowledge in her classes, where she strives to help her students become ‘thinking dancers’, giving them the tools to create and improvise, and find their own voice in the dance.
In addition to teaching classes around the globe Vicci is the co-founder and organiser of The Blues Room online dance school, Bluesology Teacher Training (Valencia, Spain), The Jump dance training (Valencia, Spain), and co-organisers of ESpanish Blues Festival (Madrid, Spain).
As a teacher not from the African American culture that created Blues dance, Vicci is dedicated to educating herself about the history, cultural values and the social context of the dance in order to honour the art form and the people who created it. She strives to pass on what she learns in every class, as well as in her ‘Discover The Blues‘ blog.
DEXTER SANTOS discovered Blues dancing in 2005 and found himself immediately drawn to the rhythms and sounds of the Blues. The emotional depth and range, the varied subjects and stories, the gut-wrenching and the hip-shaking, the gritty and the smooth gave new inspiration and direction to his dancing. With a background in various ballroom dances and Lindy Hop, Dexter has studied with and collaborated alongside leading figures in the global Blues dance community, earning a reputation as one of the most respected and engaging instructors on the international scene.
As a teacher, Dexter aims to inspire dancers of all levels with the possibilities that Blues dancing has to offer while preserving its cultural roots, historic identity, and art form. Dexter travels around the world spreading his passion and joy for Blues dancing through his fun, inspiring, and challenging classes. A particular class favorite often referred to as the “Shim Sham of Blues,” the Hound Dog routine (a solo Blues choreography danced to Big Mama Thornton’s song of the same title) has been taught and performed with dancers in four continents.

Alina Vysotskaya
Nicolas has always believed in chance. After accidentally attending a Lindy Hop class, he realized that dance was becoming his life. Previously trained in ballet, tango, and hip-hop, he immediately fell in love with swing in all its forms.
After some time, he took his first steps into blues dancing, and his dance partners could already sense his emerging talent. As part of the first generation of blues dancers in France, he traveled across many European countries and the United States in search of the elusive blues spirit — until, unexpectedly, he found it in the heart of a Juke Joint.
Since then, drawing on his deep intuition and skillfully blending his diverse experiences, he has built his own personal blues universe, which now shines brightly on the European blues scene.
Since 2007, he has been teaching Lindy Hop and blues in France and abroad. As the organizer of numerous dance events, Nicolas also founded his own school, Dance Addict, in Rennes. In doing so, he fully dedicated himself to his passion for dance and sharing it with others.
